We turned short, funny games into a sustainable business.
Skeleton Games is a B2C indie studio. We create short, funny games for adult players and sell them directly on Steam. Three games, 405,000 copies sold, $2.6M in net revenue. Each game recouped its budget at least three times.

We’re raising $1.5M to go from one game a year to three.
Gamers grew up. Their free time didn’t.

Players aged 25–40 have jobs, kids, and maybe one free evening a week. They still buy games, but rarely finish them.
The industry offers them two options: 100-hour epics or free-to-play games built around microtransactions. Neither fits their life.
The gap: short, polished games at a fair price. Few studios make them intentionally and sustain that focus.
For an investor, short games mean lower budgets, faster releases, and less risk per title.
Our model: small budgets, fast releases, loyal players.
1. Small budgets. Each game costs $180–250K and takes one team of seven about nine months. If a game fails, we lose months, not years.
2. One fair price. No microtransactions, no ads. Players notice it: our games average 94% positive reviews, and high ratings allow Steam to recommend us for free.
3. Our Own Audience. 15,000 players in our Discord test every game before release and buy it on day one. That keeps our marketing costs under 10% of each budget.
The Skeleton Method. Strip it down to one core mechanic. Test it early—a playable build goes to Discord in month one. Polish by hand: every joke, sprite, and sound is created by our team. Ship it whole: no paid DLC, no unfinished content.
A process, not a lucky hit. All three of our games went through the same four steps, and all three paid back their budgets at least three times.
Portfolio
Three games. Three bets. Three payouts.
Skelly’s Day Off
Skelly’s Day Off · Roguelike · 2024 · Budget $180K · 9 months
Problem. Roguelikes sell well, but most require 50+ hours to reach an ending. Busy adult players buy them and drop them.
Idea. A roguelike you can actually finish: 10-minute runs and a real ending in one evening.
