ABOUT ME
I am Liza Akimova, a Moscow-based fashion photographer and a fourth-year Fashion Photography student at HSE University.
My practice focuses on fashion imagery, editorial photography, and portraiture. I am interested in the interplay between light, composition, styling, and the individual character of the subject.
I approach photography as a collaborative process where visual research, technical precision, and creative experimentation converge to create a distinctive image.
My goal is to produce photographs that are visually compelling, conceptually thoughtful, and relevant to the creative vision behind each project.

WHY VISUAL IDENTITY MATTERS
In a visually saturated world, producing beautiful images is not enough.
Fashion brands, magazines, and creative teams need photography that communicates a clear idea, establishes a recognizable visual identity, and captures the audience’s attention.
A successful image must do more than present a subject. It should convey a mood, communicate a concept, and create a lasting visual impression.
This is where thoughtful photography becomes an essential part of visual communication.
MY APPROACH
Every project begins with an idea.
I develop a visual direction through references, mood boards, composition studies, and lighting decisions. These elements help translate an abstract concept into a coherent photographic language.
I pay particular attention to the interaction between light, the model, styling, and the surrounding space. I believe that every element should contribute to the overall atmosphere of the image.
During a shoot, I combine technical control with experimentation, remaining open to unexpected moments and creative decisions.
The result is a visual story built around the specific identity and objectives of each project.
MY VISUAL LANGUAGE
My photographic approach is shaped by an interest in contemporary fashion imagery, editorial aesthetics, and the expressive potential of light.
I explore the relationship between carefully constructed compositions and the individuality of the subject.
Lighting plays a central role in my work. It can define the structure of an image, create visual tension, emphasize texture, or establish a particular emotional atmosphere.
I am interested in balancing precision and experimentation—creating images that feel visually controlled while still leaving room for character, spontaneity, and unexpected details.
